PRIVACY STATEMENT

For GMP, the trust of our clients in the professional secrecy and the protection of personal data (data protection) are a highly valuable asset. GMP complies with all applicable data protection laws and strives to constantly improve privacy.

“GMP” in the sense of this privacy statement means Gottschalk Maiwald Patentanwaltsges. and Rechtsanwaltsges. mbH, Hamburg, Germany as well as Gottschalk Maiwald Patentanwalts- and Rechtsanwalts- GmbH, Zurich, Switzerland.

  1. Collection, processing and use of personal data

As a rule, you can visit GMP’s web pages without us needing your personal information. We only learn the name of your internet service provider, the website from which you visit us and the GMP websites you visit. We reserve the right to evaluate this information for statistical purposes only, but the individual visitors to our website remain anonymous, unless a social login is used. GMP processes and uses personal data only insofar as the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the European General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) or any other legal provision permits or orders this, or if your consent is available.

  1. Data collection and use for the provision and use of the GMP websites and for billing

GMP collects and uses personal data for the provision of our web pages only to the extent permitted by the Telemedia Act (TMG) or any other legal provision, or in case you have specifically authorized us, for example in the context of a request.

If users of the GMP websites use a social login to register or log in (e.g.  via LinkedIn, Google or Twitter), GMP may receive the personal data from the respective provider (e.g. LinkedIn, Google or Twitter) to the extent the users allowed their providers to share such data. The information we receive here is controlled by the privacy settings and agreements that you made as a user of the GMP Sites with your provider.

III. Use of cookies

GMP uses cookies in some areas of the GMP websites to improve display and navigation. A cookie is a text file sent from the web server to the browser. This file contains the URL visited, the date of the visit and an expiration date that determines the period of activity of the cookie. On the one hand, cookies are used by GMP to determine the preferred areas of the GMP websites, and on the other hand to enable the user to save his personal settings so that they are available again the next time the page is accessed. For the determination of the preferred visited areas of the GMP websites, aggregated statistics on the website visits are compiled.

All personal data arising from the use of the GMP Websites or Internet Direct Services will be collected, processed and used in accordance with the respectively applicable regulations for the protection of personal data, for the purpose of contract execution and to safeguard legitimate own business interests with regard to the advice and support of GMP customers. Personal data will only be collected or processed if you voluntarily provide such information, e.g. in the context of a mandate. Unless there are any necessary reasons in connection with doing business, you may at any time revoke the previously granted approval of your personal data storage with immediate effect (for example, by e-mail or fax).

  1. Your rights to information, data correction, deletion or blocking

Upon request, we will inform you in writing in accordance with the applicable law whether and which personal data about you are stored with us.

  1. Security of your data

GMP uses technical and organizational security measures to protect your GMP personal data against loss, destruction, accidental or intentional manipulation or access by unauthorized persons. Our security measures are continuously adapted to current legal and technical requirements. For the transmission of sensitive data, we recommend using the postal service, as complete data security can not be guaranteed with electronic data transmission.

VII. Updating the privacy policy

This Privacy Statement was updated in May 2018. We reserve the right to amend it from time to time to reflect changing legal requirements or our processing practices. Any amendment will be included in a new version of this Privacy Statement, posted on our website and will be effective upon posting.
